Key Stage 1

Your child will be taught to:

  • Tell time to the hour, half past, and quarter past.

  • Make and read simple charts and tables.

Key Stage 2

Your child will be taught to:

Number

  • Read and write numbers up to 1000.

  • Count by 25, 50, 100, and 1000.

  • Count backwards through zero (negative numbers).

  • Understand place value up to four-digit numbers.

  • Find 10, 100, or 1000 more or less than a number.

  • Round to the nearest 10, 100, or 1000.

  • Write decimals for tenths and hundredths.

  • Add and subtract numbers in your head and with written methods.

  • Know times tables up to 12 x 12.

  • Multiply two-digit and three-digit numbers by one-digit numbers.

  • Find equivalent fractions.

  • Add, subtract, and order fractions with the same denominator.

  • Read Roman numerals up to 100.

Measurement

  • Convert between units (e.g., km to m, hour to minute).

  • Measure and calculate perimeter and area.

  • Estimate, compare, and calculate measures, including money.

  • Read, write, and convert time on 12- and 24-hour clocks.

  • Estimate time to the nearest minute.

  • Know seconds in a minute and days in months, years, and leap years

Geometry

  • Draw 2-D shapes and make 3-D shapes.

  • Compare and classify shapes by properties and sizes.

  • Identify and compare acute, obtuse, and right angles.

  • Describe movements and positions on a grid with coordinates.

  • Identify lines of symmetry and complete symmetric figures.

  • Identify horizontal, vertical, perpendicular, and parallel lines.

Statistics

  • Use bar charts, pictograms, and tables to show data.

  • Present data in graphs.
